Being a huge nerd that I am and an avid fan of science fiction, I have been following this one project for quite some time actually. Finally, Warner Bros has released the trailer for Sucker Punch just recently that sent the entire blogosphere abuzz. Watching the trailer literally sent shivers down my spine!
From the genius mind of Zack Snyder, the visionary director of 300 and Watchmen, came an original story about a girl named Baby Doll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
Set in the 1950's, the movie combined elements of science fiction and fantasy that promised to be another visual feat in the cinema. Expect fantasy dreamscapes filled with dragons, zombie soldiers, steampunk, samurai, and monolithic mecha. Sucker Punch also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, Scott Glenn and Oscar Isaac. Warner Brothers is bringing Sucker Punch to theaters on March 25th, 2011 next year.
One word... Geekgasm!
