Scott Pilgrim VS. The World: An Epic of Epic Epicness

Now this is the movie that is worth buzzing for!!! None of that sparkling vampire flick for pre-teen chicks  that is so overrated (Although I will be watching the vampires beautifully sparkle myself hehehe... Guilty pleasure as charged).

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is an upcoming film adaptation of the comic book series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley. The film is directed by Edgar Wright and stars Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The plot revolves around the Michael Cera character, a twenty-three year old Scott Pilgrim, the bass guitarist for the band Sex Bob-omb, who falls for the new girl in town, Ramona Flowers (Winstead), but Scott learns that in order to win her heart, he must defeat her seven evil exes who is coming to kill him. His encounters include skateboarders, vegan rock stars, and identical twins.

Also starring Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) and Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) as two of the exes.

Ramona's seven evil exes.

Ever since I saw the Trailer, I've fallen in love the premise and visual style of the movie. So rarely in Hollywood comes a movie that is so fresh and innovative. Granted it's not from an original material (citing comic book adaptation as the source), however the implementation-- mixing the visual style of an action movie with comic books and video games complimented by indie music-- really pushes the genre into whole new areas. This has to be the world's first coming of age/romance/superhero/comic book adaptation/musical/comedy/whatever movie. It has some traces of things you've seen before but not blended together in this way. In a nutshell, this is one of the most anticipated movie this summer season. I really hope the movie in the end will deserve the buzz.

Getting a life! Lol...

Interesting side note about Michael Cera is how he always manages to find himself get typecasted into these nerdy roles (Arrested Development, Juno, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Youth in Revolt). If you look up the word 'Nerd' in dictionary, there will be a picture of Michael Cera's face next to the definition. Yet he always seems to be able to bag some of the hottest chicks around. It is really a suspension of disbelief at the highest level :P

Oh, and don't forget to check out the website for interesting gimmicks. Everything you'd like to know about the making of this comic-book adaptation is available on the production's official site, which is as obsessive as your typical fansite. You can get cool swags like this!

Create your own cute (or cool... cool sounds better :P) little avatar. Does it look like me?

Download cubecraft patterns to make the cutest little cube dolls (proof that I have too much free time on my hand to even contemplate doing this)

And also vote for your favorite band in Indie Rock VS. The World: Battle Royale of The Bands to have their video included as part of the DVD release and download the songs for free. KPOW!
